April Fool!

OK. Yesterday’s post was an attempt to confuse, bemuse, and amuse. I am NOT abandoning Social media.

Nonetheless, the social media landscape HAS changed since I first joined years ago, and not for the better. Today I am recommending the following actions, as originally outlined by my friend, Gwendolyn Reece on her own Facebook page:

Fellow FB users: I want to encourage you all to do three things. 1. Lock down the way in which apps can track you. This is part of how we are being manipulated in very dangerous ways. I did that this morning. See the link below for instructions. 2. Block people. If you have people who are commenting in ways that you would not tolerate them saying stuff like that around you in person…if you would not maintain a relationship with someone in person who said whatever is being said…it is time to block. Don’t give that person a platform, don’t give them access to your mind…if you would walk away from them IRL and not have them in your life, don’t have them in in your life here. 3. Is it a true friend but you just can’t see more of what they post without it damaging your IRL friendship? Maybe it is political but not the type of thing that makes you want to send them out of your life, maybe it’s that they just post too many stupid memes. Unfollow and check in at intervals.
